Finding my people
Newport Folk Fest + New Work
Hi there - fancy seeing you here!
It’s that time of the month again where I’m back in your inbox with a little life update. I really can’t believe August is already half way over. Pretty sure I’m still living back in July with all the sunshine and long weekends. ☀️
A couple of new readers have joined the newsletter recently and I wanted to say WELCOME and thanks for being here! This newsletter is essentially my safe space to share with you some of the personal details that go into creating my artwork in addition to life updates, art releases and show details for where you can find me next.
At the start of this year, I made a promise to myself that I’d keep pushing outside my comfort zone, experimenting with my painting process, trying new shows, new places, new experiences; and so far, this year has been exactly that.
✷ July
Last month I had the chance to show at Newport Folk Fest for the first time and I still can’t stop thinking about it! I’ll be honest- I was hesitant and nervous going into this show. I wasn’t sure how selling artwork would go at a music festival where people might not want to carry around paintings and prints all day. And while there were definitely challenges, it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. The show brings in around 10,000 people a day, which is a whole lot of potentially new eyes on my work. I was able to connect with so many people, soak up some great music, and actually enjoy myself for once instead of being in full work mode all weekend.
So far this year, I’ve already checked off a handful of shows from my “someday” list, and I’ve continued to learn from each one. If there’s one big takeaway I’ve had, it’s that not every event is going to be a hit, and that’s okay! You really can’t compare one show to another because each one has such a different vibe. Sometimes the slower shows make the the great ones feel even sweeter. And at the end of the day, it’s the connections you make, the people who really see you for you and value what you create. Those are my people, and those are the moments that keep me going.
✷ Okay rant over, onto the good stuff.
I’ve released some new work! I started most of these paintings back in February of this year and I’m excited to finally share them with you. I’ll drop a few images below, but in the comings weeks, I plan on spending some time writing about the ideas and feelings that went into creating them. For now take a peak for yourself and if you have any questions or just want to chat about them, I’d love to hear from you.

Aside from that, October through December is Holiday season for me, which means lots of shows and traveling. So for now, I’ll be spending the next few weeks catching up on commissions and making time in the studio painting for the fall and winter.
